A global perspective on leadership, communication, and the changing workplace.

I’m Madeline Miller, a workforce capability advisor, researcher, and keynote speaker.
I help organizations develop people who communicate clearly, exercise sound judgment, and lead with confidence as AI, generational change, and shifting expectations reshape working life. I also work with educators preparing people for that world.
My perspective comes from a career spanning law, government, international institutions, and Hollywood, and a lasting interest in how people find their voice within the systems they work in.

From law and Hollywood to the work I do now

I’ve spent twenty years working in high-pressure environments, fifteen of them as a lawyer in corporate practice, government, and entertainment. My career took me from Australia to the United Nations in Cambodia, and into the entertainment industry in Los Angeles and London, including as Production Attorney for the James Bond franchise.
These were very different environments, but each taught me something about how people make decisions, navigate competing interests, and earn trust.
I saw how much could depend on what happened around the words.
Who felt able to speak, whose judgment carried weight, which expectations went unspoken, and how people responded under pressure.
Being good at the technical work mattered. So did understanding the room, communicating a position, and knowing how to move a difficult conversation forward.

Understanding what has changed. Building what people need.

Since 2023, I’ve been studying how the workplace is changing, specifically how people learn, build relationships, and progress. Some of the opportunities that once helped people develop through repetition and exposure are becoming harder to access as remote work and AI change how work gets done. Expectations are changing, too, about leadership, fairness, flexibility, and what a career should offer.
My work considers both the skills people need and the conditions in which they are expected to use them.
I design and deliver leadership development, early-career programs, advisory, and keynotes that help organizations respond to the realities of work today. My focus is on developing people who build trust, make good calls under pressure, and sustain their effectiveness through change.
My A.I.R. Framework brings together three capabilities that run through this work: Alignment, Influence, and Resilience. Together, they help people understand what matters, communicate with impact, and respond to pressure and change without losing their sense of direction.

The questions behind the work

Alongside program design and delivery, I research, interview, and write about how work is changing, and what that means for the people entering it, leading it, and preparing others for it.
A central idea in my work is The Legitimacy Gap: the growing distance between what education and work promise and what people actually experience.
Through The Legitimacy Gap interview and video series, I speak with people starting their careers, educators, and industry leaders about how work is changing and what it now requires. These conversations inform my writing, speaking, and program design.
I believe people deserve both a fairer future and the skills to help shape it. That means helping individuals develop their voice and agency, while helping organizations take responsibility for how people learn, grow, and succeed.
“That gap is where I work now.”
