The transition from education
into work is being rewritten.
Knowledge and technical proficiency remain essential. But information is more accessible than ever, and AI is changing both the work graduates enter and the entry-level experiences through which professional judgment once developed.
Employers increasingly expect people to arrive able to communicate, exercise judgment, build relationships, and adapt, while learners have fewer opportunities to practice these capabilities before the stakes rise.
Responsibility for work readiness is spread across curriculum, work-integrated learning, careers and employability, industry, and employers. My work helps institutions develop a more deliberate approach that makes professional capability visible, relevant, and something learners can practice.
